My Prom: The Makeup, Hair, Dress, and Date

I usually don't do personal posts, but I finally uploaded my prom photos from the end of the year and thought it'd be fun to share a few with you. This was my school's first-ever prom, and it was a blast. Food, dancing, dresses, more food and more dancing...and did I mention food?

After school, my mom treated me to a trip at a local salon, which was super exciting and slightly painful. I had a few hair ideas from Pinterest but my updo became its own creation. I got the dress for only fifty dollars (that's serious shopping). We added a little gold and black tulle to the bodice to make it a little less "flashy" in that area, because unfortunately I have quite a lot to flash. I got the sparkly flats from JC Penney (I opted out of heels because I didn't want to be taller than my date, but don't tell him).

My prom date was Zach, my closest friend at my school. He's the nerdy Clark Kent type that you just know will become Superman someday. And yes, that is my makeup on his shoulder.

Best song of the night? Thrift Shop by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. That's my jam.

Tell me about your school dance in the comments!

  3. You look gorgeous! I went to my annual homeschool formal this year and it was the best one so far! I got my dress for $15 at Goodwill and my wonderful mother restyled it for me. (It was floor-length and she made it knee length with pick-ups.) I was going to wear it as it was, but decided to wear a lace tank top under it. My best friend and I spent 5 hours doing our hair and make up before hand! My cousin came and curled my hair for me (I have naturally curly hair so it was more like straightened then curled). And I did my make up myself because I am very particular about that. My best friend and I went out and got manicures beforehand (It was my first one!). I found my shoes for $5 at Goodwill and even though they were 3in heels I still was not taller than my date. :) This was the first year anybody asked me to go to the dance with them, and it was my friend Jonathan from church! He likes me and I just like him as a friend but our families are close and there is no awkwardness between us. :) It was one of the best nights ever. :D http://s1281.photobucket.com/user/IHGFormal2013/media/DSC_2069_zpscb628098.jpg.html?sort=2&o=139
